Cesar Peters' Lawsuit Against John and Nathaniel Mann PDF Print E-mail

The Connecticut State Library has just added the lawsuit that Cesar Peters filed against John and Nathaniel Mann in 1789 and 1790.  You can view the originals at http://cslib.cdmhost.com/cdm4/browse.php?CISOROOT=%2Fp128501coll7, but they are issued page at a time.  We've put the two lawsuits in Adobe Acrobat files for easier viewing, and are currently working on transcriptions.

Residents Plead for Peters House PDF Print E-mail

"Residents and descendants of Lois and Cesar Peters — who were saved by local officials in 1787 from being sold back into slavery — told town officials Thursday that they want to see the couple’s house preserved as a historic site."

Amistad Commission PDF Print E-mail
At their January 8, 2008 meeting, members of the Amistad Commission voted unanimously to endorse Connecticut Freedom Trail status to the Peters House in Hebron. In addition, members voted to endorse working with the Society on application to the National Park Service for Underground Railroad, Network to Freedom status. Stay tuned!!
